The 2022 1/3 edition of GALA's newsletter is focussed on Solidarity!
This edition's Archive Spotlight looks at The National Coalition for Gay and Lesbian Equality (NCGLE) which was an association of over 70 LGBTQIA+ organisations in South Africa. It was formed in 1994, it fought for the constitutional rights of the community and success- fully lobbied for the retention of sexual orientation as one of the grounds for non-discrimination in the new Constitution.
GALA's Programmes Coordinator crowd sources the meaning of solidarity on social media.
This edition's Featured Fam is Sibongile Ndashe, a feminist lawyer and human rights activist. She is the executive director of the Initiative for Strategic Litigation in Africa (ISLA) which is a feminist, pan-African organisation based in Johannesburg.
We are also very excited to introduce new members to the GALA team, GALA Intern, Bonke Sonjani and GALA Youth Forum Coordinator, Obvious Nomaele.
