Event: Queer Inter/Action – A Brainstorming Session

GALA will be hosting a workshop for LGBTIQAP+ identifying people and allies of the queer community on Saturday the 24th of November 2018 at The Market Photo Workshop in Newtown, Johannesburg.

The intention is to gather input from queer people that focuses on social/educational/cultural and political exchange in order to come up with a plan for a series of queer arts-based events that will be hosted in 2019. Queer events in Johannesburg often do not cater for a diverse audience that might include differently abled people, foreign nationals, gender diverse people and families. We invite you to participate in a brainstorming session geared toward problem solving, visioning and developing a plan that will encourage collaboration and inclusive approaches to hosting queer arts events in 2019. These events will be located in and around greater Johannesburg, and it is our intention to extend our reach to surrounding areas that are often neglected.

If your mobility is challenged eg: you are a wheelchair user, you are welcome. The venue we will be using is wheelchair accessible. If you are hard of hearing or d/Deaf, you are welcome. Please inform us, and we will organise interpreters. The venue can also accommodate Guide Dogs. If there are any other special needs, please contact us and we will try and make provisions. Transport can be reimbursed only if a receipt is presented. We can also provide transport for groups of 16, but this will need to be arranged in advance.

This session is capped at 50 people. RSVP is essential.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
