Please join us for the launch of Under Pressure: The Regulation of Sexualities in South African Secondary Schools

Authored by Professor Deevia Bhana (UKZN), Under Pressure is the first multi-site study to investigate how school communities understand and respond to sexual diversity.

Professor Bhana will speak about the culture of compulsory heterosexuality pervasive in the South African education system and offer recommendations for ways to make schools safe and more inclusive. Her presentation will be followed by a Q&A and a discussion on issues of sexual and gender diversity in education.

This event is part of a year-long programme of events centred diversity in schools and is a collaboration between Gay and Lesbian Memory in Action (GALA) and the Wits School of Education.

To RSVP, or for more information, please email: alison.kearney@wits.ac.za.
